On December the 7th, 2007, former President Thabo Mbeki stepped down from Presidency of the ANC and Jacob Zuma took his place.
Jacob Zuma has been a part of the ANC since 1959, he served 10 years alongside Nelson Mandela on Robben Island and played a significant role in the process of negotiations between the National Party and the ANC (along with many other parties) from 1990 to 1994 when South Africa dismissed apartheid.
In June 1999 he was appointed Deputy President of South Africa and believed to be the future President of South Africa until 2005 when he was faced with charges of rape and fraud. Eventually, he was let go of both charges and carried on winning the position of Presidency of the ANC this past December. Given the strength of the ANC in National elections Jacob Zuma can be assumed to be the future President of South Africa in 2009.
Despite his past charges of rape and fraud Zuma continues to be supported by many, this support has allowed him to remain a credible political figure in the eyes of many South Africans which seems absolutely ludicrous to me...but who am I to judge? I don't live there yet, but I just can't help it.
As a self-proclaimed polygamist, it is incomprehensible to me how he continues to achieve undying support from many women's groups around the country. If the reports are true, Jacob Zuma has publicly stated that he didn't rape his friends 31 year old daughter because she was wearing a skirt and therefore, asked for it. He knew that she had AIDS, but he figured it was OK, because he showered directly after having sex with her. This boils my blood. A continent infested with AIDS is going to be looking to the future President of South Africa and thinking that it's alright to sleep with someone with AIDS, as long as they clean themselves after! If the President of SA said so, it must be true!
I agree with the words of former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau when he said that "Politics have no place in the bedroom". A politicians personal life should not interfere with how she/he governs a country...but when comments and allegations like these are made, they are hard not to forget and hold against someones character. I can only hope that if/when this man takes Presidency in 2009 his governing decisions won't follow along the same lines as his personal life choices. The shoes of Nelson Mandela are large and indeed hard to fill, but if this man rules as he rules his own personal life, in my opinion, the shoes are not even worthy of being put on in the first place.

Hi Jeff, I can't, (and you can quote me on this) and can never bring myself to believe that blacks are innate simply because of their skin colour. It all comes down to the educated and the un-educated....which there are many, whether it be among blacks, whites, browns...whatever. The colour of ones skin does not have a direct effect on ones character. Nevertheless, I appreciate your feedback and interest in my blog...so thank you for reading it and expressing your opinion, which I value very much.

Its Sunday night, not my favorite time of the week and I browsed on the blogs to see who is writing what. I came back here to see what's new. I mostly read the comments and not the article becauee white on black hurts my eyes. I can read a bit and then it goes all blurry. I will go with what Jeff's is trying to say. I am just wondering as you are also a Canadian, why black people struggle so much. Here in Montreal we are having a real gang problem. Yet, they are offered a free education right up and including college, free medicare,etc. the same treatment as a lot of other cultural groups. Yet, the blacks often drop out of school, get involve in drugs and prostitution, etc. Why?
I have a background in psychology and sociology and when I was young I was fed a lot of theoretical mumbo jumbo about the poor blacks. I believed every word of it. I had a bleeding heart and I was going to go in the world and fix it up once and for all. These mean whites. I know that in Quebec and Ontario the black population now want segregated schools. They say that they can't learn with us with the many other cultural groups. They say that our system encourage young blacks to drop out and engage in criminal activities. This is what Jeff is trying to explain when he talks about their innate nature. Its something you have to accept. Its not a judgement its an observation. I think you are very afraid of being labeled a racist. Like I said its not racism its just an observation and a very real one. Why are they not all like that? I am clueless but a big number of them make bad choices and they are by nature much more aggressive. We accept that certain breeds of animals are more aggressive or a lot more social.When scientits open up their brains they cant explain why a certain breed of dog is a lot more aggressive or smarter, etc, than other kinds. We are not there yet. And at the moment it would be next to impossible to research why blacks are so aggressive. We would get arrested because it is so politically incorrect. I've put all the info from my degrees away. I was not born a racist the behavior of blacks molded me to become one. I have never hurt one or insulted one. I only feared them because my life was put in real danger many times because of them. That's not a judgement its plain reality. Liberal theories taught to me in university does not serve me in the real world. If you are being tortured and raped by a black man and you try and explain to him that you understand where he comes from do you really think you can turn him around? A lot of them have some type of inherent psychophysiological behavior that makes them inhuman. Take cannibalism that is still going on in the Congo. Did they learn this from the whites? Look at all the savagery in Africa (yes there are wars on other continents but not as savage). After I had my second baby I went out one night for a walk and met up with a group of blacks. They tried to gang rape me. Why? I lived in Texas for a while. These are blacks that were born in the US. The blacks would all pile up in a car and would take pleasure in driving around finding a victim and enjoy gang raping her. Do you hear about chinese doing that or the mexicans? I would have to run from my car to the shopping centre because they were always there waiting in their cars instead of being in school. How come with all the other cultural groups living in North America we have to deal with this criminal behavior. I could tell you many more stories. But always and I say always the blacks end up blaming whites. I too have been brainwashed and with the years have taken off my pink glasses. I dont like what I see but its part of growing up unfortunately.
Don't think I want you jeff or you a2z to ever respond again because of your views, like I said before I respect them completely and look forward to hearing them. I would have written a journal if I didn't want my posts to be read and commented on, so thank you for your honesty and for showing interest in what I have to say.
Both of your comments were very interesting and well written...much better to read then your average hate posts that we see all over the internet that are unfair, and unresearched.
I take value in what you say and I listen to you openly because I haven't even moved to SA yet and therefore, can't really make a complete judgement yet.
I still can't settle on the fact that blacks are innate because they are black...I just can't. I stick with my arguement that peoplea are the way they are because they don't know better...for me it comes down to nurture, not nature.
Saying that, I realize that statistics...but I truly believe that the gang violence among blacks in Montreal is yet another result of the way they were raised and the way they view themselves. White people saying that they are the way they are because they are black will only make matters worse.
If we look at the Aboriginal situation in Canada, it's the same thing. People assume that they are alcoholics, drug users and obese because they are native rather then the truth...that before colonization they lived at peace with one another and had a stable form of government. This can be said for the black Africans as well before colonization.
Now look, don't take that the wrong way either, what's done is done and that's the way it is. White Africans are just as much African as black Africans...we can't change the past, the world is getting smaller and races are mixing together. Different ethnicities are being born in different countries and gaining new homes to call their own. Looking at a place like Zimbabwe we know that as Mugabe would say "kicking the colonizers out" is NOT the answer.
I think I will write a blog on this in the next week once I think it through a little more...these are my initial thoughts and I truly appreciate yours. I hope others can see what we're talking about here and will respond with their thoughts as well.
Your arguments are valid as not all blacks act the same. I like the nature versus nuture theories. When my kids were born I was going to nurture them to death. Then to my amazement eventhough they were nurtured by the same parents they came out quite different. Now I know that it does not depend on nurture only but nature as well. The doctors explained that kids come into this world pre-wired with a certain set of abilities and personality traits that no amount of nurture can change. I am quite please to see how different my daughters are and also I am happy because its fun to see how different they are evolving. Well you can see where I am going with this. Everybody is born prewired. While in SA I became friends with a lot of blacks especially females. Ask them how their men treat them. It is quite scary. I quite liked the company of black women in SA. They are heroes, trust me. The sad thing is that a woman will have 6 to 10 children by different men. They do not marry like we do and men leave once the woman is pregnant. I am talking of people living in townships here. Women take whatever work they can find and often abandon her children or their aunts or her own mother will try to help. They do not believe in condoms and birth control especially men. Men like to get the woman pregnant because it shows that he is viril to others. This is the answer I got from a group of men I knew. I am not making this up. He is not interested in the child or the woman per se. Then there is the HIV problem. Some of them know they are infected but persist in having sex all over the place. They often resort to having sex with babies (read SAS to get the facts or south african newspapers). They do this very frequently because they believe that they will get cured of AIDS this way. Many infants die this way. I am not making this up. They are very much involved with witchcraft eventhough they have access to hospitals. They do not trust whites and they even say that we invented aids for them to get sick and die.
I really feel bad for your mother and father. They must feel sick about you going there and putting yourself in harms way like that. I know all the energy and love that it takes to raise loving kind kids. Most of the contributors on South Africa sucks know. Most of them do not live there now as they were all affected by crime. They are doing the best they can to warn tourists to stay out of SA to prevent more crime. They are not paid to write these articles. They are upset at how the country is sinking economically and socially because of government corruption and crime. They are not bad people nor racists just people concerned about the walfare of whites that cannot get out and tourists. I know I was due to go back and reading their blog kept me and my daughters safe in Canada.
Once you get to know the contributors personally they have assured me that they did not grow up as racists. They have all helped blacks that were in need and so did I. But when my back was turned they robbed me blind. That's the way it is.
